Oran Peat was born on July 15, 1889 to Joseph and Cora Peat in Fredonia, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. On September 4, 1922, he married Elsie Fay Guthrie. They resided on Cherry Street in Worthington, Pennsylvania.


On September 12, 1918, he registered for the Army during World War 1.


He passed away on April 24, 1986 after a brief illness. He is buried in the Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.

Oren Peat, 86, of Worthington RD 1, died Thursday morning at his residence. He was born July 15, 1899, in West Franklin Township, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Welton) Peat. He was a member of the Worthington Baptist Church. He retired in 1964 from Logan’s Clay Products. Survivors include five sons, Harlan and Chalmer of Kittanning, and Edwin, James and Thomas of Worthington; two daughters, Mrs. Chauncey (Janet) Hooks of Worthington and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Leech of Fenelton; 30 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Faye (Guthrie) Peat in 1959; two sons, Richard in 1981 and Robert in 1985; and a sister, Mary Hellam. PEAT – Friends of Oren Peat, 86, of Worthington RD 1, who died Thursday, April 24, 1986, will be received at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, Worthington, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 Saturday, with the Rev. Walter Pifer, pastor of the Worthington Baptist Church, and the Rev. Earl Watterson, pastor of the Evangelical United Presbyterian Church, Youngsville, officiating. Burial will follow in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery. Arrangements are by Snyder.
