Martha “Mattie” Pifer was born in May, 1845 in Randolph County, West Virginia. She died on October 23, 1926 at age 81 in Marshall County, West Virginia. She is buried at Kesling Mill Cemetery in Buckhannon, Upshur County, West Virginia.

She is pictured on the right along with her husband Anthony Pifer and daughter Iva N. Pifer.
