Heroism at Home

Heroism at Home

I love our community. We live very close to the Butler Farm Show grounds where the attempt on Donald Trump’s life took place on July 13, 2024. We live even closer to where Corey Comperatore was a fire chief.

My drive to the local hardware store yesterday to get some plumbing supplies was not an ordinary trip. In honor of Corey, the route was lined with tributes to his heroism. American flags have sprung up in every neighborhood. There are numerous signs with messages of love and support to his family. It was a sad and sobering drive, but what I saw was a beautiful embodiment of who we are here. We work hard. We go to church. We take our boys to baseball practice and our daughters to dance classes. We take care of our neighbors and friends. We love our Friday night football games and our picnics and parades. We fly the stars and stripes… and we go to political rallies because we love our country.

Corey died protecting his family from an assassins barrage of bullets intended for Presidential candidate Donald Trump. There is no greater love than this: that a man would give up his live to save others. Corey Comperatore is an American hero. And though he lost his life in a most horrific way, the American spirit has not died in this community. Love of our neighbor has not disappeared around here. I did not know Corey or anyone in his family. But that doesn’t mean I am not heartbroken. When any one of us has a victory, then we all rejoice. But when a family suffers a terrible loss, we all grieve together.

Corey’s life was an inspiration to our community. Now in his death, he has inspired a whole nation. God bless him and his family.

This site is a collection of my commentary on theology, current events, and everyday blue collar life. My primary purpose is to share my own personal studies in the Scriptures and to show how the Bible has been changing my life. The content here is meant to be an encouragement to my brothers and sisters in Christ: to view everything through the lens of God’s Word, for the Scriptures are what shapes our thinking and governs our behavior.
