This building is located next to the Ohio River on New York Avenue in Rochester PA. It is a seven-story orange-ish brick structure that was used in the movie Kingpin (1996), starring Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray. It was also used in the Michael Douglas film, Wonderboys (2000). In Kingpin, Murray’s character “Big Ern” McCracken gets into a brawl with some other bowlers near the parking lot at the front exterior of the building.

This building didn’t start out with bowling lanes in it though. This is the former location of the Beaver Valley Brewing Co, which opened in 1905 and closed in 1910. Although this is a pre-prohibition brewing company, the Prohibition Era destroyed many smaller and mid-sized local brewing companies.

In the early 1950’s, bowling lanes were installed on one of the upper floors. There is rumored to be some old beat up bowling balls and smelly bowling shoes throughout the building. But this may remain an unsolved mystery since the structure is currently in disrepair with plenty of No Trespassing signs posted on it.
