Bedford Coffee Pot

This 18-foot tall roadside attraction is located in Bedford PA, along the Lincoln Highway. A pretty cool piece of Americana, even if it isn’t at its original location now.

The Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor placard on site states:

“All across the country, oversized buildings were being created in the likeness of objects. In 1927, Bert Koontz designed and quickly erected the Coffee Pot on the west end of Bedford. His intention was to attract visitors to his adjacent gas station. The early restaurant served ice cream, hamburgers and Coca-Cola. In 1937 it was converted to a bar and a hotel was built in the rear. The Coffee Pot became a regular stop for Greyhound bus passengers since the bus depot was next door. In an effort to save the Coffee Pot, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor moved it to this location and restored it in 2004”.

The Coffee Pot currently resides right outside the Bedford Fairground entrance. There is a small parking area next to the site alongside the entrance to the fairgrounds. Coordinates: 40.023060, -78.517266

This site is a collection of my commentary on theology, current events, and everyday blue collar life. My primary purpose is to share my own personal studies in the Scriptures and to show how the Bible has been changing my life. The content here is meant to be an encouragement to my brothers and sisters in Christ: to view everything through the lens of God’s Word, for the Scriptures are what shapes our thinking and governs our behavior.
