Pittsburgh Christmas Trees

The 80-foot tall Christmas tree at Point State Park has been a fixture in Pittsburgh for over 30 years. This iconic display isn’t actually a real tree, but rather strings of lights connected to a metal pole, fashioned into the shape of a Christmas tree. The sponsor of the tree, Duquesne Light, is retiring the display after this holiday season in order to help with the preservation of the Fort Duquesne grounds.

The centerpiece of PPG Plaza during the holiday season is the 73-foot tall Christmas tree. The tree has been there since 1991 and is currently surrounded by a public skating rink that was built in 2001.

The 100-foot tall Christmas tree that wraps around the corner of the former Joseph Horne Dry Goods Company at the corner of Stanwix Street and Penn Avenue has been part of the holiday celebration in downtown Pittsburgh since 1953. There are over 2,500 lights and 2,000 festive ornaments on the tree.

This site is a collection of my commentary on theology, current events, and everyday blue collar life. My primary purpose is to share my own personal studies in the Scriptures and to show how the Bible has been changing my life. The content here is meant to be an encouragement to my brothers and sisters in Christ: to view everything through the lens of God’s Word, for the Scriptures are what shapes our thinking and governs our behavior.
